Q: WHO IS A CANDIDATE? HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M A CANDIDATE?
Almost anyone is a candidate for microchanneling. The only exception would be someone who has extremely sensitive skin, a very high sensitivity to pain and an inability to heal properly. The other contraindication is active cold sores.
Q: HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Approximately two days after treatment, however, this can vary depending on how quickly your skin heals.
Q: WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE PROCEDURE?
It’s slightly uncomfortable but bearable during the treatment. The experience is similar to microdermabrasion with more of a vibration in certain areas.
Q: HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
This depends on what you are treating with the microchanneling and how well your skin responds to the treatment, but typically a minimum of three to see amazing results.
Q: WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO PREPARE/IS ANY PREPARATION NEEDED?
A topical numbing cream may be applied to help reduce the discomfort, 30 minutes before your appointment time. Dermaplaning or an exfoliating enzyme facial may be performed prior to the treatment if needed and recommended by our Esthetician. Avoid use of retinols 3 days prior to receiving your treatment.
Q: HOW MUCH DISCOMFORT WILL I EXPERIENCE DURING AND AFTER?
There will be minimal discomfort and this will depend on your sensitivity level. You will feel slightly flushed, tight & like you have a mild sunburn following the treatment, which will subside after 90 minutes.
Q: HOW QUICK IS THE RECOVERY TIME? HOW MUCH DOWNTIME IS NEEDED AFTER?
Generally, patients are able to return to their schedules with almost zero downtime. Skin may be red for a day, depending on your sensitivity.
Q: HOW SOON WILL I BE ABLE TO RETURN TO WORK? WILL I NEED TO GO DIRECTLY HOME AFTERWARDS TO RECOVER?
You can return to work day-of if you need, and can apply a clean mineral based makeup within 90 minutes of treatment. Ideally we recommend leaving your skin bare for the rest of the day following the treatment.
Q: HOW SOON UNTIL I CAN RESUME MY WORKOUT ROUTINE?
You can return to normal workout activities the following day. Keep in mind this does depend on each individuals skin sensitivity. May increase the healing time if resumed too soon.
Q: HOW SOON CAN I USE MAKEUP AFTER HAVING THIS DONE?
You can use a clean mineral based make up within 90 minutes to three hours, but for optimal results it is best to not apply anything for up to 3 hours if possible, especially for acne prone clients.
Q: WHAT ARE THE POST PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS?
Don’t use any active ingredient products (vitamin c, retinols, hydraquinone, AHA, BHA) for the first 5 days post-procedure. We strongly recommend purchasing the post healing kit, and using a Broad Spectrum SPF consistently while healing.
